ANSWERS: (6) No, according to prophecy neither of the two houses replaces the other. Instead they join together to reconstitute Israel. In contrast British Israelism has taught that the British and associated peoples are the descendants of all twelve tribes. Since the Messiah is expected to come from the tribe of Judah, this teaching has a special appeal to Britons who believe in a connection between the British royal family and the Messiah. In fact many British Israelites may well be descended from the ten lost tribes. Some of them may even be descended from Jews. And so may others among the members of churches which consider themselves to be replacements for Israel. But in our view the Jews of today are the most readily identifiable descendants of the house of Judah. |
